1.Process system
1.1. Gas Extraction & Treatment
* Source: Natural gas is extracted from underground reserves (conventional or shale gas) or as associated gas from oil fields.
* Purification: Impurities (water, CO₂, sulfur, heavy hydrocarbons) are removed to prevent freezing and corrosion during
liquefaction.
2. Liquefaction Process
The purified gas is cooled in stages using refrigeration cycles (common methods include):
* Cascade Process – Uses multiple refrigerants (propane, ethylene, methane) for high efficiency.
* Mixed Refrigerant (MR) Process – A single blended coolant for simpler operation.
* Nitrogen Expansion – Ideal for small-scale LNG plants.
Key Steps:
✔ Pre-cooling: Gas is chilled to intermediate temperatures (~-30°C to -50°C).
✔ Liquefaction: Further cooled to -162°C, converting methane into a clear, odorless liquid.
✔ Sub-cooling: Ensures LNG remains stable for storage.
3. Storage & Loading
* LNG is stored in double-walled cryogenic tanks (insulated to minimize boil-off gas).
* Loaded onto specialized LNG carriers (with insulated hulls) for transport.
4. Transportation & Regasification
* Shipping: LNG is transported via cryogenic tankers to global markets.
* Regasification: At destination terminals, LNG is warmed back to gaseous state for pipeline distribution.

De-acidification with MDEA solution has the merits of small foaming, low corrosiveness and small amine loss.
Molecular sieve adsorption is used for deep dehydration, and it still has high adsorption advantage even under low water vapor partial pressure.
Using sulfur-impregnated activated carbon to remove mercury is cheap in price. Mercury reacts with sulfur on sulfur-impregnated activated carbon to produce mercury sulfide, which is adsorbed on activated carbon to achieve the purpose of mercury removal.
